Maldives 2100, 20”x28”, Oil on Canvas: IPCC’s projection of a 60 cm rise in sea level is a reality – and hence, a blazing hot sun; a
dhoni asunder; a lone ghastly fisherman; a shark bleeding profusely and drowning; and of course, the proliferation of jellyfish and algae are all a part of everyday life. This is a small experiment I did a year ago. The idea isnt very original as I borrowed heavily from various sources.
Awesome painting. But Naimbe, do you think it's a great idea to explain your painting? Shouldn't you rather leave it as a stimulating intellectual challenge for viewers to take whatever meaning they want to? Just a thought...
ReplyDeleteTrue, Hilath. But I dont think this is 'art' in that sense. I'm only experimenting, my friend.
