Chrysanthemariyabu, 18”x24, Oil on Canvas – I wanted to paint a red chrysanthemum. The result is not what I had in mind --- and so the title ‘Chrysanthemariyabu’. :-)
thanks, canofworms. But I'm embarassed and dead scared to call this art. I dont consider myself to be an artist. I'm only experimenting with paint. Your comment could be construed by some as an insult to accomplished Maldivian artists. ;-)
Ok then, obviously I haven't yet been exposed to a lot of artwork done my Maldivians. Rarely do I come across good art on blogs and other websites, and the few I can recall are pencil drawings, not paintings. Which is why your work took me by surprise.
just wanted to say, i really like your work too. i personally like the zoomed in pieces very much, i like the red ones, and the midnight sailing ones are pretty nice too, love your use of colours....the most striking aspect of your paintings is that I feel something when i see it...and in my opinion that makes it art..... erm...can i ask how much the red "chrysanthemariyambu" is?
thanks, Fathimath for the nice words. As I've said earlier I'm not an artist and I dont know how to put a price tag on pieces of canvas I use for experimenting. :-) So far I've only given away my works to friends.
I like every single one of your paintings! Might be some of best I've seen done by a Maldivian.
